This is a sample of our Dog rescues, they come in many sizes, weights, positions, and attitudes...
Paula with our "Big" dogs - Madison, Diablo, and Big Dog

#1 - This is where the idea, (and some of the parts) for Big Dog came from. A train derailment behind our home in Tawas Michigan back in 2001 left us with some unusual parts. And before you even ask, NO, I did not cause the derailment!!!
#2 - Our first "Big Dog" made from a spring left behind after the train derailment in Tawas. This guy is not the biggest of the big dogs, but he's probably the heaviest weighing in around 50lbs.
#3 - Here he is again aged a few years. Yes, this guy is part of my personal collection, he resides on my front porch.
#4 - This is another "Big Dog" made out of parts from the train wreck. Not sure what happened to him, probably ran away. Wow, wouldn't it be ironic if he got hit by a train and caused it to Derail.
#5 - This girl "Big Dog" is named Madison after my Golden Retriever that died in 2006. she's made from an old car or truck spring. She is another part of my personal collection and resides in our Kitchen. She's the first "Big Dog" to get the glass eyes.
#6 - My "Big Dog" again showing off her glass eyes - This actually started off as a joke, Dave put the eyes in there to be funny. We both thought they looked cool so they became part of the build for Big Dogs.
#7 - This is Dave's "Big Dog" Buddy, named after our first Akita, Buddy Bear Weiser. Dave's not into the floppy ear dogs, so he made himself a special "Standing Ear" version, which later became part of the entire dog collection. He's always telling me his dog is going to kick my dog's ass, so I tell him my dogs going to kick HIS ass when I pick her up and throw her at him.
#8 - Our "Big Dogs" range in size from 20-50lbs, although Big Dog's kinda heavy, he's always ready to "Spring" into action....Get It? I'm trying to make jokes that even YOU can understand.
#9 -
#10 - This was the first and only "Big Dog" to move out of Michigan straight from the rescue. He actually moved to the Akita Rescue of Western New York, the rescue we got Diablo from. I know your thinking he's not tough enough to live in New York, well let me tell you, if he were to jump off the porch and land on your foot, you'd be screaming like a 5yr old girl with her finger slammed in the car door. He's tough enough! Almost tough enough to live in Detroit!

#12 - Wow, a pack of dangerous Big Dogs! Yea, their dangerous. Imagine walking by these guys barefoot and stubbing your toe on one of them. Yeoeoeow!!!. Of course all of our rescues are temper tested before leaving the rescue. I'm just saying, proper placement of one of these guys can provide a type of security or intruder alert, because when needed, they can be dangerous.
#13 - Big Dog and Buddy Bear Weiser, our first Akita who died in 2003. Unlike our rescues who have a half-life of 50 years. Yup, these things will last a lifetime with little or no care.
#14 - One of the latest "Big Dogs", they are now all painted and come with the cool glass eyes.
#15 - Another one of the latest "Big Dogs", just waiting to be delivered to a new home.
#16 - Ok this guy is part of our "Rebar" dog collection. It's Dave's favorite dog, "Lazy Dog". Dave always says that when he retires he wants to be just like this guy, he wants people to look at him and have trouble determining whether or not he's in a coma, he wants them to have to put a mirror under his nose just to see if he's breathing. Looks like I'll be doing everything when he retires - What's new.
#17 - Ok some of your are saying you've Never seen a dog lay like this before? Hey, I don't make this crap up. Our dog lays around the house like this all the time. I think it's his impression of being run over by a car, I'm not sure though, I can't read his mind and he refuses to speak to me.
I'll tell ya, dogs today, they just don't behave like they did when I was a kid. Of course times were much tougher back then, I remember walking up hill to school, both ways, in 6 feet of snow, with a refrigerator on my back. Wow, I finally got to say that.

#18 - Here's a close up... Is he breathing? or Not?
#19 - "Lazy Dog" - The extra lazy "Floppy Ear" edition. To lazy to even listen.
#20 - This is "Mad Dog", another part of the "Rebar" collection, and as you can see, he's pissed!
#21 - See, I'm not kidding around here, he's Mad...
#22 - For those of you that don't like "Mad" dogs, just call him "Bad" dog, and be glad it's #1 and not #2, of course Dave keeps telling me he's going to make "Poopin" dog. And knowing Dave, I'm sure he will.
#23 - I guess a better name for this guy would be "The Neighbors Dog", since this is usually what the neighbors dog does on my front lawn and flowers everyday. This guy pretty much tells you what he thinks of your property.
#24 - This little guy is "Playing Dog", another part of the "Rebar" collection. Actually he's not that small, he only looks it next to our "Real" Big Dog Diablo, a 130lb Akita. Play nice...
#25 - Here's a closer view of playing dog, this is one of my favorites.
#26 - Another Playing Dog.
#27 - This little guy actually is little, he's "Puppy Dog", or as Dave says, "Mini Big Dog". He stands, oh about 7" high and weighs in around 7lbs.
#28 - Dave is always telling everybody this is a "Mini Big Dog", it was a regular Big a until I washed him, and like most of his clothes I wash, I shrank him down to just a fraction of his original size. So I of course picked him up and threw him at Dave. Now Dave has a "Mini Big Scar" on his forehead.
#29 - Like the "Big Dogs", these guys offer protection too. There small and light enough to pick up with one hand and throw at whoever is bothering you. And yes, they can hurt you, just ask Dave.
#30 - "Puppy Dog" is one of our more popular dogs
#31 - These guys are "Sitting Dogs", another part of the "Rebar" collection. Can you guess why we call them sitting dogs? If not, your an idiot, to the rest of us, it's obvious, their to drunk to stand up. Which is usually the condition Dave is in by the end of the night when he's making these guys.
#32 - Sitting dog is about 15" tall and weighs in around 15lbs

#35
#36 - This guy is "Standing Dog", another part of the "Rebar" collection. I hope I don't need to explain why we call him Standing Dog. Well, Ok, he works on a Road Construction job, so naturally, he's standing around doing nothing.
#37
#38 - Here's another part of my personal collection, it's "PigDog". There's a story here but your not going to hear it from me.
I will tell you that this guy is heavy, We have to move him around every month or so because he keeps sinking into the ground.
When I die, my kids will need a metal detector to find him.

#41 - This is "Wiener Dog", not named after the wiener your thinking about right now. Actually, this little girl named "Hot Dog" after those Hot Dog dogs, the ones you want to walk up to and kick like a football because there always in the way. I wouldn't recommend kicking these dogs though, not unless you have your steel toes on.
#42 -
#43 -
#44 - ...and these guys are Big Weiners.
#45 - So there you have it, a small collection of some of the dog we've made over the past few years.
#46 - ...and some more...
