Other Junk...
There are a lot of items we tackle at the rescue that are made with unique parts we come across in very limited quantities, so these items are usually one of a kind rescues. Then there are the projects that Dave does as part of the design of our house, these are a few of them...
#1 - This was a special request from my sister-in-law, kind of a challenge for Dave to make an Elephant.

#1 - This was a special request from my sister-in-law, kind of a challenge for Dave to make an Elephant.
#2 - The pictures, as with most of our pictures don't do this guy justice, it really turned out cool.
#3
#4 - This is a backwards Italian phrase. It's actually supposed to be Benvenuti Amici, which stands for "Welcome Friends". This was a design Dave came up with to put in the sidewalk leading to our front porch.
#5 - After the letters were complete, we laid out the rest of the design. The idea was our friends are always welcome, and here are the keys to all the locks of our home.
#6 - Here's the completed project. Everybody always asks if the key to the front door is in the cement, well the answer is....
#7 - There is probably a joke in here somewhere, a Dog eating a Cat that ate a Fish??? But come on man, this is an educational piece depicting a small part of the food chain. We're Just doin our part to educate the world...
#8 - This is a dog food bowl riser, supposed to help big dogs from getting a sore neck I guess, to me it's just making my dog lazier. Lets think about this for a minute, same concept, but for humans, no more silverware needed, less stuff to wash, it's golden! We built two of these, both similar but different in design, this one was for my brother-in-laws Akita.
#9 - Our first flowers, everybody loved these and wanted some. Problem is, never found any of the flower parts again - a limited edition, which of course is part of my private collection.
#10 - These too, are made with a part we found, and never found again, so it too is a one-off, and part of my personal collection.
#11 - Here's the completed project.
#12 - This is a trellis we built to hold our honeysuckle which climbs up our fireplace.
#13 - A Halloween Decoration experiment - Dave cut the letters out using his torch, he really wants to get a plasma cutter - some day...
#14 - This is a reproduction of a drawing made by a friend of my brother-in-laws. Dave and his brother Paul made this as a gift for the guy for giving the drawing to Paul. I painted it to match the colors on the drawling.
#15 - This is Spike, Look close, he's made of railroad spikes - this is another one of the first projects Dave made while learning to weld.
#16 - These next three pictures are a design Dave made to tie the deck into the kitchen which over looks the deck. These are the same Cattails that are in the railings around the porch.
#17 - This was a very time consuming project, Dave had to cut the tile to fit around the cattails.
#18 - While building our house, we learned a lot of new skills, tiling was one we really enjoyed and became very good at.
#19 - It's a Mouse for all you slow folks, there are two of these, and one's in my collection.
#20 - I collect Pigs, It took Dave 5 years to finally make one for me, yes this is also part on my personal collection.
#21 - Ok, Dave is very skeptical about his work, this is one of the pieces he really was proud of how it turned out. This was an experiment to see if his idea for a gate was going to work out the way he pictured it in his head - it did so the Pirate Skull gate is under construction right now.
#22 - It's not a Pirate unless it has a patch!
#23 - This is Frosty, a design from a several years ago, we were asked to make some Christmas theme items for a holiday sale, so this is one of the items Dave came up with, there was also a reindeer and some Christmas trees, which are in this collection.
#24 - This is my snowman, Dave made a special accessory for my snowman, a dog.
#25 - Isn't he cute...
#26 - Not! He's actually a mini peeing dog, peeing on my snowman... Only Dave would spend time to build this.
#27 - A crowd of snowmen. This was a special order from Dave's mom as gifts for her friends.
#28 - Can you guess they are member of the "Red Hat Society"
#29 - This is the new 2006 design, the silver with painted details was a big hit.
#30 - We made two of these Squirrels, and yes, one is in my collection. If you haven't guessed by now, I get one of each, it pays to have a special connection with the builder.
#31 - Trees, this was the first design...
#32 - The second, modeled after the Grinch who Stole Christmas's tree... Pictured here next to a stuffed exact replica of our akita, Diablo.
#33 - And the third, modeled after the Charlie Brown Tree, only on a much larger scale. This baby is 15 feet tall, and it looks awesome, complete with a welded nest that holds my stuffed Woodstock.
